Ice Cream and the Present Moment
I needed a photo of delicious ice cream for this post... just couldn't find it, so i made dinesh pose for it, and we started today morning with dinesh eating gooey, tasty, full of sugar (!) ice cream... after taking the photos there was some left over, so i had a few bites as well!!! :)
And then, we noticed that the photos didn't come out good, so dinesh had to eat ice cream all over again! *sigh* :)
Ahh well... Sugar day today!
This is from a few years ago...
Dinesh and i were walking along a beautiful shady lane in the dadar parsi colony of Bombay. We were both eating ice cream... and suddenly he got very excited... his eyes were shining, he had had a realization!
He said Do you see how we feel that the last bite of the ice cream is special? We eat the whole thing, but then really, really savour the last bite... Why don't we eat each bite as if it's the last one?!
Why can't we live life, each moment to its fullest? Savouring it, relishing it... Like its our last...
Living in the present moment means eating each bite of ice cream as if it were the last one!!!
We really enjoyed our ice creams after that... :)
Jai Gurudeva!

Aaah!!! How realistic it is and how we forget to enjoy each and every moment. Thanks Bau and Dinesh for guiding us.
Jai Gurudev!!
Dinesh as always looks stunning in the picture :)
This is amazing.
I also like to do one more thing, which I think Ramnik or other AoL teacher told me, it is to do something as if I am doing it for the first time!
I entered the forum mall one day, thinking of it as if it was my first visit. As If I had never seen it before. It was a very different time!
Jaigurudeva
lovely .. the catch for me is, to remember this at every moment ! :)
the pics of all of you are wonderful ...
Wow!
What a beautiful insight from Dinesh Bhaiya!
It took me a moment to affirm that indeed I do treat the last bite of ice-cream extra special.
But what I want to know is was the last bite of the second ice-cream(when you made him eat it again for the photo) as tasty as first bite of first ice-cream :)

"And then, we noticed that the photos didn't come out good, so dinesh had to eat ice cream all over again! *sigh* :)"
ha ha ha ha ha ha
well thtz hw i look at chocolate and ice-cream but it ends there:) quite a revelation and easy to remember too..just think of ice-cream and there s a reminder to live life to the fullest :) amazing...
Bawa & Dinesh - this reminds me of my son when he was 8 months old and tasted ice cream for the first time. He enjoyed the taste so much that he made delightful sounds and kept making them for the rest of the day! Guruji says - children have a wonder about everything, and we tend to lose it as adults.
On another note - each time I travel by plane - I experience wonder during take off and landing!
We just need to keep remembering to experience the wonder :)
Thanks for sharing this. JGD
Have an ice cream a day and keep the past away. Dinesh bhaiya looks supercool in the picture. Waiting for Dinesh bhaiya's post. It is long overdue.
Hi Bau
How true! It would just be simply amazing if we can live each moment as if we are living our last moment.
Between, yesterday was the last day of Hyderabad DSN with Anand bhaiya. It was my first DSN and no doubt that it was just amazing. The energy topped with loads of guru stories...simply beautiful. Between Anand bhaiya also shared that you are his DSN teacher..wow!

d last lick...just like bawa's QnS session today at the utsav.. but more importantly it was the utsav..
after 2 years for me...thanks for introducing new places to laugh at in the jokes.. much like the ice cream u savour with renewed enthusiam.. evrytime
Cool analogy..
And dwelling in the past or future causes the icecream to melt before you eat it up.
Bawa: yesterday, at the Utsav, I had a question about atheism... You said that an atheist is simply lazy. Heres a list of the "lazy people":
